About

Al-Xyij (الزيج) also called Al-Sumandar Raqami (السمندر رقمي) or the city of the red salamander of the desert) which is referred to a mythological creature of a red giant salamander that fired a flamethrower from its mouth that also melted gold pure at +3000°C, however the Salamander Desert that encloses the whole Governorate is full of red salamanders (which are obviously protected and it is illegal to kill them), it is the Southern Metropolis of the country located in the south of the country divided into 28 districts and 4 municipal areas.

In 2021 with the administrative reform the previous districts were canceled which between 2005 and 2021 were: Al-Xyij QG (administrative area which was divided into 2, the administrative district remained but was reduced to the HQ area only while it was created the municipal area of Central Al-Xyij which includes 4 districts), regarding the old city district in the south it was divided into 12 districts which were formerly the neighborhoods (the former district included the areas of Old Al- Xyij and Al-Ahmar, where there was a mess between the old city and part of the new city in the south of Al-Xyij and it was decided to cancel the 2 districts by unifying them in the municipal area of Al-Xyij South, also solving the riots popular in Al-Ahmar which existed since 2007), finally in the north of the city the former New Al-Xyij district has become the municipal area of North Al-Xyij which includes the new city.

Al-Xyij during the conflict between 1990 and 2005 was completely destroyed by urban guerillas and bombings, where 70% of the neighborhoods were razed to the ground, then between 2005 and 2008 there were urban guerrillas which were put down where the city returned to normality only in 2010 and in those years the reconstruction of the city began where in the districts of the old city there were restorations and restructurings, while in the desert area to the north and south of the old city the construction of the new city began which began in the 1990s investing around 500 billion, between 2014 and 2020 the city had an economic explosion where it attracted many international investors, the old city dates back to 1709 (where the first districts date back to 1666) and there was an Ottoman and Arab influence (lately also Italian).

Despite having a Muslim majority, the city is an open-minded city with a secular profile, where religious culture coexists with modernity, albeit separated in 2 areas of the city: in the old city they are more traditional and cultural while in the new city they are more modern and open-minded (where there are "XXX" red light porn districts built after 2010 WPS LOL promotes obviously legalized and state-run pornography, where there are prostitution districts (VM15) with strict health checks (who has symptoms of contagion cannot enter this area of the city), foreign prostitutes are also allowed to enter (provided they do not have health problems and above all that they are not clandestine).

The population is 1.93 million (fifth largest city by population in the country).

Al-Xyij Policy

The city of Al-Xeon has been administered since 1709 (even if the first settlements date back to 1666), the city between 1709 and 1921 had no mayors but leaders who were sovereigns, kings, princes, imams, clerics or any candidate but during the Ottoman Empire they were decided by the Governor of the former capital of the country (Al-Xeon) until 1921 after which during the British administration the choice of the mayor was decided by the King under the advice of the British colony) where the city was established; after 2005 the city later abolished the monarchy and the mayor will be elected by the people in democratic elections.

the English administration the choice of the mayor was decided by the King under the advice of the Government of the British colony); after 1970 with the establishment of the city the absolute monarchy system was abolished for a constitutional system with mayors elected by the government council, after the fall of the English colony the elective power of the mayor is decided by the people under democratic elections.
